SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire -04/18/12)- Masterbranch, the site where over 500,000 developers and their 1.5 million projects are profiled, automatically updated and scored, today announced new "Connections" and "Company Wish List" features to enhance professional relations between developers.
In addition, Masterbranch also announced their new "Project Leaderboard," which ranks the Open Source projects of its contributors through DevScore, Masterbranch's own reputation system.
Masterbranch allows developers to showcase their projects and programming skills and, unlike other sites such as Coderwall or Geeklist, only Masterbranch includes self-hosted Open Source projects and private repositories. Masterbranch also helps developers connect with the right people and share their professional profile only with the specific companies most appealing to them.
"Developers use Masterbranch to centralize all their projects, to control who can see their public information and to have metrics of their day-to-day work," explained Ignacio Andreu, CEO of Masterbranch. "With today's announcement, developers won't need to make an extra effort to showcase their real experience."
"Five months ago, I sent my Masterbranch profile instead of my résumé. I got hired. Now, I'm in charge of the R&D department, and Masterbranch allows me to quickly find out what real-world experience my candidate hires have," said Amos Wenger, Lead Developer at official.fm.
Companies use Masterbranch to find top-notch developers. Masterbranch allows companies to pre-qualify candidates by looking at proven, real skills of each developer. They can also filter their searches by other useful indicators like years of experience and type of job that interests the candidates.
"Masterbranch is a great source of candidates. Everybody has an account in LinkedIn with more or less information, but Masterbranch is their passion, so it sounds reasonable to find and contact great quality candidates in their own geek environment," explained Laura Gonzalez, CouchSurfing Recruiter Coordinator.
Masterbranch is the only developer network that features:
- DevScore -- a score based on the developer contributions, the reputation of those projects (downloads, followers, likes, etc.) and the reputation of the people they work with.
- Connections -- allows developers to connect with other developers (and only developers) and to discover new people working with acquaintances or colleagues .
- Company Wish List -- enables developers to ping companies directly and to indicate their relocation and salary preferences. Only companies included in the Wish List can see this information.
- Project Leaderboard -- lists Open Source projects by DevScore. (AKA by relevance/ reputation of its contributors). This is a way for developers to browse hot projects.
Masterbranch allows developers to easily create an online identity giving them a single site to present and track the things they really care about: source code. Masterbranch empowers developers -- and the companies that hire them -- with a network of peers to discover hot technologies and projects, connect with the right people, and improve employability.
With Masterbranch developers can showcase their programming skills and let companies see what they really know. Based in San Francisco, Masterbranch has seed funding from SeedRocket, a Spanish startup accelerator. To learn more, go to https://masterbranch.com.
