Media Advisory: Media Lock-up for important National Security Announcement

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan 29, 2015) - On Friday, January 30, officials from Public Safety Canada and the Department of Justice will provide a presentation to media on important matters related to national security on background (not for attribution) and take questions from the media. The media lock-up will start at 11:00 a.m. until the designated Public Safety Canada official announces that the embargo is lifted, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Please arrive early to register.

Embargo procedures:

All materials will be under embargo until released by the designated Public Safety Canada official at approximately 12:30 p.m. Once the lock-up has commenced, no one will be allowed to leave the room or contact their office until the embargo is lifted.

Journalists will be required to sign an undertaking to respect the release arrangements and not to remove, release or communicate documents, materials or information, or other records of any nature whatsoever, to anyone in any manner (including the use of wireless communication devices such as wireless microphones, wireless modems and air cards, wireless keyboards and printers, cellular phones, and smartphones) until they are released from embargo.

Public Safety Canada reserves the right to refuse access to any future Public Safety Canada embargoed releases to anyone and/or their organization breaching the terms of the undertaking.
