TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sep 1, 2015) - On September 2nd, 2015 three stand up paddlers will attempt to cross Lake Ontario departing Niagara-On-The-Lake sailing club at 7:00 am and arriving in Marilyn Bell Park, Toronto later in the afternoon. Followed by an escort boat generously provided by Coldwell Banker Residential R.M.R. Real Estate the paddlers will use the same start and finish points as the official Lake Ontario swim crossings, a distance of 50kms. Due to expected south-westerly winds the paddlers expect to paddle 60-70kms to reduce the effect of the side-on wind and waves. Arrival time will vary due to environmental conditions although the paddlers expect to land some time between 4pm and 7pm. During the paddle a more up to date arrival time can be obtained at 613-298-8361.

About Stand Up for CHEO

Stand Up For CHEO is a non-profit, community-oriented event to benefit the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). With the help of title sponsor Trailhead Paddle Shack, SUFC has raised more than $75,000 for CHEO in the last five years while introducing hundreds of people to the growing sport of Stand Up Paddleboarding. What started as a group of four friends challenging themselves to complete a 150 km paddle has evolved into Eastern Ontario's largest and longest running community SUP event. This year, more than150 stand up paddlers raised over $30,000 for CHEO, through events in Ottawa, Kingston and Petawawa. The final event marks a return to SUFC's extreme roots, with three paddlers attempting to cross Lake Ontario by SUP.
