OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire -02/08/12)- Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will undertake a visit to the official residence at the Citadelle of Quebec, on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
On the occasion of Quebec's Suicide Prevention Week, Their Excellencies will speak with students and teachers from Ecole secondaire de la Seigneurie who, together, have formed the TAX-I committee to denounce and stand up to bullying and intimidation in schools.
Their Excellencies will also focus on research, education and innovation as driving forces in the economic and social development of a community.

Visit to the Wood Research Centre (CRB) at Universite Laval
The Governor General will visit the Wood Research Centre's laboratories to
learn about new CRB projects and innovative trends in the forestry and wood
products industry.
CRB focuses on fundamental and applied research on wood, its conversion and
its use in innovative products. One of its objectives is to develop
knowledge in wood science as a basis for the development of new products and
processes or for the improvement of existing products and processes.

Discussion with students and teachers from the TAX-I committee
Their Excellencies will meet with students and teachers who are part of the
TAX-I committee, which is committed to denouncing and standing up to
bullying and intimidation at Ecole secondaire de la Seigneurie. Students
will describe the challenges and personal experiences that led them to join
the committee, which also addresses the issue of online bullying. Their
Excellencies will demonstrate their commitment to non-violence in schools by
leaving a symbolic handprint on the "Mur qui frappe."

Visit to Hichaud
The Governor General will visit Hichaud, a children's boot and shoe
manufacturer, which employs a team composed primarily of workers with severe
functional limitations. This Quebec company is part of the Conseil quebecois
des entreprises adaptees, which is dedicated to addressing the socio-
economic interests of its members-the adapted enterprises of Quebec-in order
to promote the creation of job opportunities for persons with disabilities.
During his visit to the facility, His Excellency will help assemble a shoe.
