Metso to Supply Mining Equipment to OAO Severstal's Olkon Mine in Russia

The high-capacity drying system will improve mine performance

Metso will supply OAO Severstal with a complete rotary drying system fortheiriron ore plant upgrade project at the Olkon mine in Olenegorsk, Russia. Thehigh-capacity single-line system will replace multiple existing rotarydryers.Metso's delivery also includes a modern automation system, which willenabletighter control of the process. The value of the order will not bedisclosed.

The new drying system will improve the mine's performance by incorporatingtheuse of the most modern technologies in air filtration and burnermanagement.This will result in lower fuel consumption, operational and maintenancecosts,as well as minimize particulate emissions.

Metso's drying system will dry high-grade iron ore concentrate at a rate of625metric tons per hour in one processing line. The delivery consists of adirect-fired rotary dryer, including process and equipment design, firingsystem, airpollution control equipment, instrumentation, plant control system, andprojectmanagement.

The delivery is included in Mining and Construction fourth quarter 2012ordersreceived. The delivery will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2013.
