Mid-Day Market Update: Wednesday's Top Volume Stocks

The Dow Jones Industrial Index rose 0.81 percent, the S&P 500 Index increased 0.73 percent, the NASDAQ Composite jumped 0.64 percent, and the U.S. Dollar Index went up 0.67 percent in Wednesday’s mid-day session.

The following were the top 10 volume stocks of the day:

  • Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC) came in first again with volumes of ~80.21 million, below its three-month average of ~93.91 million.

  • Sunedison Inc (NYSE: SUNE) came in second in Wednesday’s session with volumes of ~48.65 million, above its average of ~35.05 million.

  • Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) had volumes of ~50.62 million versus its ~65.61 million average.

  • General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) made it to the list with volumes of ~44.43 million, above its average of ~31.03 million.

  • Cameron International Corporation (NYSE: CAM) made it to fifth place with volumes of ~39.97 million, way above its average of ~2.91 million.

  • Schlumberger Limited (NYSE: SLB) had volumes of ~37.15 million, above its average of ~7.65 million.

  • Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO) had volumes of ~31.55 million, above its average of ~28.91 million.

  • Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) had volumes of ~29.84 million, below its average of ~35.55 million.

  • Freeport-McMoRan Inc (NYSE: FCX) had volumes of ~28.70 million, below its average of ~34.33 million.
