Walt Disney Co. rose $.44 or 1.0 percent, to $44.88.

Gannett rose $.01 or .1 percent, to $13.11.

New York Times Co. rose $.01 or .2 percent, to $6.55.

News Corp. rose $.13 or .6 percent, to $19.71.

Time Warner Inc. rose $.22 or .6 percent, to $34.80.

Viacom Inc. fell $.76 or 1.4 percent, to $52.11.
