NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of some top silver companies are down at 1 p.m.:

Hecla Mining Co. fell $.02 or .4 percent, to $4.46.

Pan American Silver Corp. fell $.12 or .7 percent, to $16.74.

Silver Standard Resources Inc. fell $.07 or .6 percent, to $11.12.

Silver Wheaton fell $.19 or .7 percent, to $26.17.

      ...and scrap steel ...or any scrap metal where you can buy at a discount rather than have to pay a premium (with coins) and sell at discount. Bitcoin is a handy way to store cash also, but not wise to put too much there.
