Just shy of 1 million options have turned over in the SPDR S&P 500 Fund (:SPY), with 572,000 puts. The S&P 500 Index (:SPX) options have traded 195,000 times, with 106,000 puts. Next up are the options of the iShares Russell 2000 Fund (:IWM) at 176,000, with puts outpacing calls by 3 to 1.
The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has 155,000 options traded, with 87,000 calls. Following is the CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) with 142,000 options, 117,000 of which are calls.
The PowerShares QQQ Trust (:QQQ) has 130,000 contracts changing hands, with puts outpacing calls by 2 to 1. The iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Note (VXX) has 109,000 options moving, with 67,000 calls. The SPDR Gold Shares Fund (GLD) has 89,000 options traded, led by 64,000 calls.
