Total option volume is predictably light at 4.6 million contracts so far on this Veterans Day, with the big indexes and ETFs leading the way, optionMONSTER data systems show.
The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (:SPY) has 630,000 options traded, with 468,000 puts. Next up are the S&P 500 index (:SPX) options at 207,000, with puts slightly outpacing calls.
The iShares Emerging Markets Fund (EEM) has 104,000 contracts changing hands, with 62,000 puts. The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has seen 89,000 options turn over, with a put/call ratio of almost 2 to 1.
Just behind is the PowerShares QQQ Trust (:QQQ) at 88,000, options led by 64,000 puts. The CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) has the same total, but with 58,000 calls.
