The SPDR S&P 500 Fund (:SPY) has 606,000 options trading, with 355,000 puts, though it is second behind Apple's volume of more than 1 million contracts. The SPY has 355,000 puts. Next up is the PowerShares QQQ Trust (:QQQ) at 257,000 options as calls outpace puts by 2 to 1.
Close behind is the S&P 500 Index (:SPX) at 236,000 options, with 150,000 puts. The iShares Russell 2000 Fund (IWM) has 155,000 contracts changing hands, led by 93,000 puts.
The CBOE Volatility Index (:VIX) has 117,000 options, dominated by 98,000 calls. Just behind is the iPath S&P 500 VIX Short-Term Futures Note (VXX) with volume of 115,000 options that are evenly split between calls and puts.
