General Electric Co. rose $.24 or 1.0 percent, to $24.13.
Snap-On rose $.86 or .9 percent, to $100.36.
Stanley Works rose $1.60 or 1.8 percent, to $92.17.
Whirlpool Corp. fell $.79 or .5 percent, to $145.65.
