Netbiscuits, the global leader in software solutions for adaptive mobile web experiences, today announced that ricardo.ch, Switzerland’s leading marketplace website, has released figures showing staggering growth since going mobile in 2011. Following the implementation of the Netbiscuits Cloud Platform, ricardo’s 2012 targets exceeded expectation, with 25% of overall visitors to ricardo.ch coming from mobile devices.
The unprecedented surge in mobile device usage and mobile commerce over the past few years was behind ricardo’s decision to develop a mobile strategy. Figures from CNET1 show that shopping on mobile grew by 81% in 2012, and ricardo’s key objective was to build on its market leading position, focusing on delivering a highly engaging mobile experience to users across all devices. The new mobile site is easy to use and reflects key functionality of the desktop site including advanced search, purchasing options such as Auction and Buy It Now. Every week over 17,000 items are purchased via mobile devices onsite.
Paulina Wielinska, Head of Mobile at ricardo.ch said, “The expertise and support provided by the Netbiscuits team allowed ricardo to become mobile in a short space of time. Delivering an effective mobile strategy requires having a mobile site that is quick to load, easy to use and adapts key desktop functionality to the needs of mobile users. The Netbiscuits Platform not only supports this but the device detection service ensures we deliver a comprehensive mobile experience to all our customers regardless of the devices they are searching on”.
