NAHB Helps One Lucky Hamilton Student Shape Their Tomorrow

Hamilton career college offers full $15,000 program scholarship in online Facebook contest.

HAMILTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire -01/13/12)- National Academy of Health and Business (NAHB), a leading career college based in Hamilton, Ontario, is proud to announce the second annual Shape Your Tomorrow Contest, where one deserving entrant will win a full NAHB scholarship, worth up to $15,000. The public will once again determine this year's contest winner through an innovative online Facebook voting platform.

Last year's Shape Your Tomorrow Contest winner is a local mother of five, Cristin Walsh, who won a full scholarship to her choice of program, which ended up being the Personal Support Worker program. She is now successfully employed in her field as a Personal Support Worker. You can hear Cristin's touching story of determination in her own words on Facebook and Youtube.

"With Hamilton's newly calculated $14.95 per hour living wage making the headlines as the year closed, there are a lot of good reasons to opt for training or retraining at a local career college like National Academy for a positive career change," says Mark Harrington, NAHB Director. "Less than a year from her first day as a National Academy student, Cristin's undeniable success proves that it is possible for anyone to improve their future career prospects with the right education."

Last year's contest saw 10 shortlisted finalists in a tight online voting race, with some individual entrants getting up to 600 Facebook votes! This year, the open call for entrants to the Shape Your Tomorrow Contest will close Friday, January 29th at 5:00 p.m., and then the excitement of the public Facebook vote ensues!

This past year, the National Academy of Health and Business opened a newly retrofitted, renovated facility located across from Gore Park, which has already positively shaped Hamilton's downtown cityscape and workforce. NAHB has offered premiere healthcare courses, dental schools, business training, law and enforcement career training since 1979. Using a Three Dimensional Education approach to learning, the colleges strives to prepare students for the workforce with a mix of theory, application and practical, hands-on training. Extensive job search training is also supplied, with a focus on developing a professional image and marketable job skills.
