Newell Rubbermaid soars 8%

Shares of the maker of Rubbermaid storage containers and Sharpie markers leapt after it said its Q4 EPS rose 20% to 40 cents, beating views by 2 cents. Sales grew 4% to $1.5 bil, in line with views. Sales in the Home & Family segment rose 1.2%, sales in the Office Products segment grew 3.7%, and sales in the Tools, Hardware & Commercial Products segment jumped 7.7%. Newell Rubbermaid (NYSE:NWL - News) sees '12 EPS of $1.63-$1.69, the midpoint below analyst expectations for $1.68. It sees sales rising 2%-3%. Shares surged 8% to 18.82.
