AIRLINE VOTE: Flight attendants at American Airlines will vote on the company's "final" contract offer. If they turn it down, a federal bankruptcy judge could rule next month that American, flying under Chapter 11 protection, can temporarily impose its terms on the workers.

SWEETER DEAL: American added upfront money including a signing bonus and bigger pay raises to an offer it made in February and which the flight attendants' union rejected.

EXCEPT LAYOFFS: American is sticking by its plan to cut 2,300 flight attendant jobs, although it offered buyouts to induce volunteers to quit. US Airways has promised no layoffs if it succeeds in merging with American, whose executives have tried to push US Airways aside.
