News Summary: Agriculture prices makes a U-turn and fall; metals, energy rise

AGRICULTURE TAKES A U-TURN: Prices for wheat, corn and soybeans fell Thursday after rising the day before. Investors have been concerned that a record drought in the U.S. could crimp crop supplies and force prices higher.

METALS RISE, MOSTLY: Metals prices moved only slightly. Gold, copper, palladium and platinum rose, and silver fell. Every change was less than 1 percent.

THE OIL ALSO RISES: U.S. benchmark oil rose 42 cents to finish at $89.39 per barrel in New York. Brent crude, which is used to price international varieties of oil, rose 88 cents to end at $105.26 per barrel in London.
