News Summary: Striking subway workers defy court

News Summary: Subway workers defy back-to-work order, extend strike to 6th day

TAKE A WALK: Striking subway workers in Athens defied a court order to return to their jobs and continued their protest for a sixth day on Tuesday over pay cuts.

THE RULING: A court ruled Monday night the metro workers' strike was illegal. That allows the government to activate emergency powers to force the strikers back to work.

MIXED REACTION: Traffic slowed on the city's main streets. Workers at the state-run city bus, trolley and tram systems joined the subway strike with four- and five-hour work stoppages. But some commuters were complained they were struggling to get to work.
