CONCORD, N.H. (AP) -- The deputy city manager in Rochester, N.H., is being nominated by Gov. Maggie Hassan to serve as New Hampshire's Division of Economic Development director.
Karen Pollard supervises the implementation of Rochester's economic development strategies. Under her leadership, Rochester underwent a major industrial park expansion. Strafford County also won its first Economic Development Administration grant for infrastructure, which allowed multiple firms to expand.
Hassan and Department of Resources and Economic Development Commissioner Jeffrey Rose were nominating Pollard to the position at Wednesday's Executive Council meeting. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the council.
Hassan said Pollard's track record of working to bring advanced manufacturing and other innovative businesses to Rochester demonstrates that she is the right person to help revitalize New Hampshire's economic development efforts.
