No Change To CD Rates Following Federal Reserve Announcement Last Week

TheStreet and RateWatch Report Top National & Regional CD Rate Issuer

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- RateWatch, a premier banking data and analytics service owned by TheStreet, Inc. (TST) reported today that national averages this week for CD rates of all durations remained unchanged as the Federal Reserve has continued to keep the short-term federal funds rate at a range of zero to 0.25% since late 2008.

TheStreet and RateWatch Report Top CD Rate Issuers

"For the third week in a row, CD rates remained unchanged after the Federal Reserve last week said that it will keep the main interest rate unchanged for a considerable time after it stops economic stimulus," reported Joe Deaux, TheStreet's Economics Analyst. "Though not specific, this suggests savers can expect the central bank to raise the main rate in 2015. However, the lack of a clear timetable may be why banks aren't budging this week on CD rates."
