NXP Semiconductors (NXPI) fell after tech blog AppleInsider reported that Apple (AAPL) would probably not include NFC chips in its new iPhones. NXP is the leading maker of near-field communication, or NFC, chips. AppleInsider noted that another tech blog, AnandTech, had concluded last week that the iPhone 5 probably won’t include an NFC chip because the device is expected to have a "primarily metal backside." A third tech blog, The Loop, agreed with AnandTech's conclusion, AppleInsider added. Bucking the trend is tech blog Tech Sources, which, after analyzing photos that are supposed to show the iPhone 5, concludes that the device appears to support NFC chips. The photo shows "a square part with EMI cover," which might include the NFC chip, Tech Sources explains. In late morning trading, NXP dropped 29c, or 1.18%, to $24.22, down from its earlier daily high of $25.30.
