NYC Mayor Bloomberg: No tax increase in budget plan

NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says his budget plan for his last year in office won't raise taxes.

Bloomberg delivered the news as he released his spending plan Tuesday.

The next fiscal year starts July 1. The term-limited Bloomberg leaves office at the end of December.

The mayor's budget plan generally is an opening move in a months-long fiscal chess game involving policymakers, elected officials and advocates. The budget ultimately needs City Council approval.
