Obama, congressional leaders hold White House talks over government shutdown


WASHINGTON, Oct 2 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama andcongressional leaders began a meeting at the White House onWednesday, a White House official said, as they tried to find away to end a government shutdown.

In the meeting were House of Representatives Speaker JohnBoehner, the top Washington Republican, Senate Majority LeaderHarry Reid, the top Democrat, Senate Republican leader MitchMcConnell and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi.
