SAN ANTONIO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Office Ally announced today that its electronic health records product (EHR 24/7™) has been tested and certified for Stage II meaningful use under the Drummond Group’s Electronic Health Records Office of the National Coordinator Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB) program.
Drummond Group’s ONC-ACB certification program certifies that EHRs meet the meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using the EHR systems of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology – a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical-care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.
In order to be eligible for government funding under the 2009 economic stimulus package, providers must use EHR technology that has been certified to allow providers to achieve “meaningful use.” These are categorized as technology that improves care coordination, reduces healthcare disparities, engages patients and their families, improves population and public health, and ensures adequate privacy and security.
“This latest certification provides our 11,000 physicians even greater assurance that our EHR product will meet and exceed their complex needs in a trusted and secure manner,” said Brian O’Neill, Office Ally president and CEO. “Since first bringing our EHR system to the market in 2007, it has repeatedly shown to compete favorably with the more expensive EHR systems currently available.”
As healthcare continues to go through new changes and challenges, EHRs have the potential to improve quality, safety, efficiencies and access. And as providers seek to adapt to an environment of Accountable Care Organizations, EHRs allow for a virtual integration of patient, provider and payer by having all of a patient’s healthcare information readily available in a private, secure and accessible location. Already many hospitals and large physician groups have made significant progress in implementing EHRs; and systems are now in place, which makes it easy and affordable for smaller groups or independent physician offices to convert from paper to EHR as well.
“Combined with the other automation and revenue cycle management products and services we offer, a physician and his or her patients can reap significant clinical and financial benefits with little hassle and minimum cost,” said O’Neill. “Smartly leveraging electronic communication is fast becoming a necessity in regards to office efficiencies and responding to patient demands.”
