Office retailers surge on merger talk

Deal Possible This Week

Office Max and Office Depot are reportedly in merger talks, according to the Wall Street Journal. That's lighting a fire under both stocks, sending OMX higher by 21 percent and ODP up by 28 percent before the bell on my tradeMONSTER platform. Staples is also rallying 14 percent on the chatter!


Strong Results Lift Express Scripts

Express Scripts earned $1.05 a share in the fourth quarter on revenue of $27.41 billion. Analysts had only expected $1.04 and 27.24 billion, respectively. Guidance was also strong for 2013.
ESRX climbs 4 percent on the news.


Vodafone Drops on Bernstein Downgrade

Vodafone was downgraded to "underperform" by Bernstein on reports it may buy a German telecom company. VOD fell 3 percent in early trading.
