Ohio gas prices near $4, above national average

Gas prices in Ohio hang near $4, well above national average as summer travelers hit the road

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Some Ohio drivers are cringing as the price for a gallon of gas remains near the $4 mark.

The state average for a gallon of regular gas was $3.92 in Monday's survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. That's up 9 cents compared with the cost last Monday.

Compared with the national average, motorists in Ohio are paying an extra quarter or more per gallon.

The state average is about 32 cents higher than a month ago and 33 cents higher than at the same time in 2012.

Analysts have said rising oil prices amid fears about refinery problems in the Great Lakes pushed pump prices above $4 in some parts of Ohio last week.
