ONNN's New Integrated Slave Transceiver

ON Semiconductor (ONNN) recently launched a new integrated slave transceiver named NCN5150. The NCN5150 fulfills all criteria essential to comply with the two established European standards namely, EN 13757-2 and EN 13757-3. It can be used in two-wire meter bus (M-Bus) slave devices and repeaters.

The NCN5150 keeps internal power consumption to a minimum, thus making extra power available to the sensor in the application. Its low voltage bus operation facilitates operations on extended M-Bus networks. It operates in a wide temperature range and is therefore suitable for diverse operating environments. Its robust nature allows it to cope with errors during execution.

The NCN5150 is available in two packages, SOIC-16 and QFN-20, with the latter being suitable for space constrained applications.

A transceiver is a device consisting of both a transmitter and a receiver, which are combined and share a common electronic circuit or a single housing.

ON Semiconductor Corporation designs, manufactures, and sells semiconductor components for electronic systems and products all over the world. The company operates in three segments: Application Products Group, Standard Products Group and SANYO Semiconductor Products Group. The company was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Phoenix, Ariz.

ON Semiconductor reported second quarter 2013 earnings of 13 cents, in line with the Zacks Consensus Estimate. Revenues of $688.3 million were up 4.1% sequentially but down 7.6% year over year. Reported revenues were toward the lower end of management’s guided range of $675.0–$715.0 million.

ON Semiconductor has a Zacks Rank # 3 (Hold). Other semiconductor stocks that are worth considering are Sepertex Inc (SUPX) with a Zacks Rank # 1 (Strong Buy), and Microchip Technology Inc (MCHP) and  Magnachip Semiconductor Corp (MX), with a Zacks Rank # 2 (Buy).
