OriginOil (OOIL) has announced that its prototype EWS system can successfully treat liquid sewage, human waste after removal of solids, and produce feedstock for algae cultivation.
The company's joint venture, Ennesys, treated liquid waste at an urban demonstration site at La Defense, near Paris France. Human sewage was treated by a model 4 unit, installed in December 2012, to remove solids and the resulting liquids treated by the EWS system which sanitizes the water and removes urea and the treated water was used to grow algae in tubes on the building's rooftop.
