S&P 500 Index Futures Off Morning Lows

Joel Elconin is the co-host of Benzinga's #PreMarket Prep, a daily trading idea radio show.

S&P 500 index futures were trading lower by three points at 2072.50 in Tuesday's session. During pre-market trading, the index found resistance just above Monday's close (2075.50), reaching 2076.75 before turning lower.

Macro events such as lack of progress in Greek debt discussions and Iran stalling on nuclear weighed on the index and traded down to 2062.25 before rebounding.

Off the open, the index tested the pre-market low, but found support ahead of that level, only reaching 2064.75 before reversing course. At this time, it is back in the 2070 handle and grinding towards Monday's close (2075.50).

At this time, all of the top 10 components in the index are still in the red.

The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSE: SPY) recently traded at $207.64, down $0.64.
