Pertino Participates in "Hot Startup" Session at Open Networking Summit

Disruptive Startup Pertino Showcases Its SDN-Powered Cloud Network Engine; CEO Participates in Panel Session on Future of SDN

Marketwired

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2013) - Pertino, a company reinventing networking for the cloud era, today announced that Craig Elliott, CEO of Pertino, will participate in a "Hot Startups" panel discussion on the future of SDN at the Open Networking Summit. The Open Networking Summit was created by the founders of SDN and is an independently reviewed non-profit; the event explores key developments in the ever-growing space of OpenFlow and Software-Defined Networking (SDN).

In February 2013, Pertino launched limited availability of its SDN-powered cloud network engine service and since then, the company has secured $20 million in Series B funding and built over 500 cloud networks. Today, Pertino also named three SDN and open technology experts, SDN visionary Guru Parulkar, renowned networking analyst Nicholas ("Nick") J. Lippis III, and open technology advocate and Information Systems professor J.P. Allen, as founding members of the Pertino Advisory Council (PAC). The new PAC board of advisors will help inform and guide Pertino in executing its SDN cloud platform vision and becoming a catalyst for democratizing IT for small and medium businesses (SMBs) worldwide.

As part of the "Hot Startups" panel at ONS, Elliott will discuss the opportunities startups have to take the lead in the transformation of SDN and networking. The other panelists include: Sunhay Tripathi, founder and CTO of Pluribus Networks Inc; Andrea Goldsmith, chief scientist of Accelera; and David Husak, CEO and founder of Plexxi.

Elliott spent 10 years at Apple in network-related senior product, marketing and general management roles. After Apple, he became the CEO of Packeteer where, under his leadership, the company created and led application-intelligent WAN performance and optimization market.

About Pertino
Founded in 2011, Pertino had an inspired vision for reinventing networking for the cloud era, and in the process, being a catalyst for democratizing IT for small-to-medium businesses. Globalization, cloud-enabled IT, and growing demand for always-connected people, devices, and things is affecting businesses of all sizes -- making the "outside network" as critical as the inside one. However, traditional wide-area networks have not kept pace. Pertino is a revolutionary cloud network engine that enables any business to build a simple and secure cloud-based network that connects people and IT resources from anywhere on the planet. No new hardware. No expertise. No upfront investment. To achieve this breakthrough, Pertino has developed a software platform that combines the power and pervasiveness of the cloud with Software-defined Network (SDN) and network virtualization technology, and a social-inspired user management paradigm. The company is headquartered in Los Gatos, Calif. and is funded by Norwest Venture Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
