Petronas says no plan to change Brent benchmark for crude pricing


SINGAPORE, Sept 12 (Reuters) - Malaysia state energy firmPetronas said on Thursday it does not plan to change thebenchmark used to price its crude oil.

"Petronas has adopted the Brent-based pricing mechanismsince June 2011 and has no plans to change this basis," thecompany said in a statement.

Reuters reported earlier that Petronas is in talks withproducers, buyers and traders on setting up a new mechanism toprice oil produced in the Asia-Pacific to better reflectregional supply and demand. (Reporting by Florence Tan; Editing by Michael Urquhart)
