MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (AP) -- Officials have opened a new 150,000-squre foot mail service pharmacy in suburban Chicago that is expected to employ about 400 people.

The CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy and Customer Center opened its doors Tuesday in Mount Prospect, about 20 miles northwest of Chicago. The pharmacy is expected to hire more than 400 people by year's end. Those jobs include pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

The $67 million facility was finished in June and has the capability to fill 50 million mail prescriptions a year. CVS is based in Woonsocket, R.I., and has three other similar centers nationwide. They're in Texas, Pennsylvania and Florida.

Gov. Pat Quinn attended the opening on Tuesday, but no state funds or tax incentives will apply.

CVS Caremark Corp. runs more than 7,000 drugstores nationwide.
