Philly plans online school launch this fall, Philadelphia Inquirer says

Philadelphia's School District, pending approval, will launch the Philadelphia Virtual Academy online school for 6th through 12th graders this fall, reported the Philadelphia Inquirer, quoting the district's superintendent as saying, "Here in Philadelphia, we want to begin to compete for students." The Fly notes that in its annual report, K12 (LRN) stated that in fiscal year 2012 it derived approximately 13% of its revenues from the Agora Cyber Charter School in Pennsylvania.
