Picture of the Day: A Hole in the Clouds Over the South Pacific

An instrument in orbit with NASA's Aqua satellite took this picture of a hole in the clouds off the coast of Tasmania on June 5. NASA explains that the hole was caused by an area of high pressure in the upper atmosphere, which forced air downward and blocked cloud formation below.
