Porsche's most important car just got faster and more powerful

The Macan compact crossover SUV changed the game for Porsche when it arrived in US showrooms two years ago.
Since then, the sporty crossover has helped Porsche to achieve both high profit margins and sales volume.
At the same time, its relatively affordable price point allowed the legendary performance brand to reach a broader group of buyers.
This week, Porsche introduced a Performance Package for the top-of-the-line Macan Turbo.
It's the most powerful version of the Macan SUV to date.
With the Performance Package, the Macan Turbo's 3.6 liter, twin-turbocharged V6 is recalibrated to produce 440 horsepower — an increase of 40 over the standard Turbo.
As a result, Porsche claims a 0-60 time of just 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 169 mph. In addition, the Performance Package also gives the Macan larger, 390 millimeter brakes, lowered sports suspension, and a sports exhaust. On top of that, the Macan's PDK dual-clutch transmission has been calibrated to deliver quicker shift times.

The upgraded Macan Turbo comes less than six months after the introduction of a new entry level variant of the Macan. With a starting price of just $47,500, the base Macan is the most affordable new Porsche on sale today. Unlike other Macans, the base model is powered by a 252 horsepower, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine sourced from parent company VW Group. Other versions of the SUV are powered by Porsche's own twin-turbo V6s.
The Porsche Macan Turbo with Performance Package is on sale now with a starting price of $86,445.
