Potomac Edison spending $55 million on upgrades

Potomac Edison spending $55 million to upgrade power system in western Md., W.Va.

WILLIAMSPORT, Md. (AP) -- Potomac Edison says it's spending $55 million this year to upgrade its electrical system in western Maryland and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.

The company said Tuesday that the projects include new distribution circuits and replacement of underground cable and utility poles.

Potomac Edison is a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. of Akron, Ohio.
