QuickLogic Wins Contract from Gomtel to Assist MoWatch

QuickLogic Corporation QUIK, a leading provider of ultra-low power solutions for smartphones, tablets, wearable and mobile enterprise, recently won a contract from Chinese firm Shenzhen Gomtel Technology to provide its ArcticLink 3 S2 Sensor Hub and SenseMe Algorithms for the latter’s MoWatch wearable device.

The ArcticLink 3 S2 is the second generation sensor hub platform from QuickLogic, featuring a processing platform ideal for the requirements of power-conscious original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). The processing core of the device is the Flexible Fusion Engine (FFE), a Finite State Machine plus CISC Arithmetic Logic Unit.

The FFE is designed to run sensor algorithms and process sensor data in a power-efficient way, offering great user experience while keeping the power consumption of the sensor hub as low as 75μW (implementation- and device-dependent).

Last month, QuickLogic enhanced its Double-Tap gesture detection functionality in its SenseMe library. This enhancement offers OEMs the ability to eliminate mechanical buttons and deploy more fashionable, classic analog watch face technology, while staying well within the tight power consumption threshold of wearable electronics.

Gomtel has choosen QuickLogic’s ArcticLink 3 S2 solution with SenseMe Algorithms for its low power consumption, ease of integration and advanced activity tracking and gesture algorithm support. Gomtel is a service provider that offers product solutions for mobile communications, wearable devices and the Internet of things. It is a new and high technology enterprise specializing in products design and development, supply chain management, production and manufacturing.

In August 2015, QuickLogic had installed its fully integrated hardware and software sensor processing solution in Taiwan-based startup company, Joyray’s JUMPY smartwatch for kids.

According to Telecommunications Mobile Network Wireless Market Research, the global smartphone market shipment is expected to reach 2,968.9 million units by 2020. The global smartphone market is expected to reach $698.4 billion by 2020, with a CAGR of 11.2%.

The growth in the smartphone market will help QuickLogic earn higher revenues in the coming years. Improved market demand for smartphones and smartphone accessories will help the company profit by winning more deals from other companies.

Headquatered in Sunnyvale, CA, QuickLogic is the inventor and pioneer of innovative, customizable semiconductor solutions for mobile and portable electronics OEMs and original design manufacturers (ODM) . These silicon plus software solutions are called Customer Specific Standard Products (CSSPs). CSSPs enable customers to bring their products to market more quickly and remain in the market longer, with the low power, cost and size demanded by the mobile and portable electronics market.

QuickLogic carries a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy). Some other stocks worth a look include FormFactor Inc. FORM, Alpha & Omega Semiconductor, Ltd. AOSL and Broadcom Ltd. AVGO.
