Today's economic calendar focuses on residential real estate, though events in Europe may take center stage.
At 8:30 a.m. ET, the Commerce Department will release housing starts and building permits for the month of February. Starts are expected to accelerate to a 911,000 annualized pace, up from 890,000 in January. Economists forecast 925,000 on the permits, up from 904,000 in the previous month. The data could affect homebuilders and related companies.
There will also be headlines out of Europe, with Germany's ZEW survey of economic sentiment. There could also be more news from Cyprus, which is in the process of trying to finance a bank rescue package.
