REMINDER: ONC's Fridsma to Deliver Keynote at NCPDP 2013 Educational Summit

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Jan 29, 2013) - The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) announced today Dr. Doug Fridsma, Director of the Office of Standards and Interoperability and the Acting Chief Scientist in the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, will be the keynote speaker of NCPDP's 2013 Educational Summit. The one day event will take place on February 5, 2013, at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

NCPDP's 2013 Educational Summit will cover topics in health reform, such as accountable care organizations, and feature the underlying standards required to build an interoperable and sustainable health system infrastructure, including:

  • Standards for electronic prior authorization (ePA);
  • Short cycle dispensing and synchronization;
  • Medication therapy management (MTM);
  • Health insurance exchanges (HIEs);
  • Risk evaluation and mitigation strategies (REMS); and
  • Electronic prescribing (ePrescribing) of controlled substances.
