MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- A retired Alabama Power Co. executive is the new workforce development leader for Alabama's Department of Postsecondary Education.
Two-year-college Chancellor Mark Henrich announced Thursday that 64-year-old Terry Waters of Tuscaloosa will be the senior executive director of workforce and economic development.
Waters will be responsible for leading the department's efforts in promoting economic development and developing a skilled workforce. He starts Nov. 12.
Waters worked for Alabama Power for 38 years before retiring in 2010 as senior vice president for marketing and customer service.
He's also served as chairman and executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, and as chairman of the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority.
