RI airport preps for busy holiday

Rhode Island's T.F. Green Airport prepares for busy week of travel

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's main airport says it's expecting crowds this week as Americans travel for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Officials at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick said Monday that they are encouraging passengers to give themselves extra time to get through airport security. The airport says it expects its busiest times will be between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The bump in Thanksgiving travelers typically begins Tuesday and runs through the Monday after Thanksgiving.

According to AAA, nearly 40 million Americans will travel 50 miles or further this Thanksgiving. Six percent are expected to travel by air.
