PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's Department of Labor and Training will be reducing the hours of a call center for unemployed people to report their benefit status because of the layoff of 67 agency workers.
The call center is for people to report their job search efforts to the department each week, which is required for them to continue receiving unemployment benefits.
Officials are set to cut the call center's hours on July 2. The current waiting time averages about a half hour and is expected to increase by another 10 to 20 minutes.
