Your Ride: 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air

Boldride

No doubt about it, the Chevy Bel Air is an American icon. And having featured a similar ’56 Bel Air only a few weeks back, it’s plain to see that the classic is a huge hit with collectors and our fans alike.

This time, it sits pretty in the garage of one of our reader’s Jeff. With a handsome blue/white exterior, and a classic interior to match, this Bel Air is just one of many very special rides still out on the road today. Here’s the full story:

How did you acquire your ride?

I bought my ’56 Chevy Bel Air 29 years ago at the age of 15. My dad and I restored it and had it ready for my 16th birthday and my driver’s license. I drove it as an everyday driver for many years.

What drew you to it when you bought it?

I was looking for a trifive Chevy after watching the movie American Graffiti as a child and building trifive models with my dad. Once I saw the car and it was a solid car that I knew I could drive without a lot of work, I knew it had to me mine.

Does it have a name?

I just call my “Old Bel Air”

What do you feel like when you drive it?

It is a great feeling to drive the car. It makes me feel proud of all the hard work that has went into the car, whether it was 29 years ago when I first built it with my dad or the last 8 years as it went through a total frame off rebuild with the help of my dad and my son. I feel like I’m 16 all over again!

What you would change about your car, if anything?

I wouldn’t change a thing!! After an 8 year rebuild I had plenty of time to think, plan and build it the way I wanted.

What have you done to make it a bolder ride?

The car was built to resemble a modern Late 60′s hotrod. All the parts could have been from that time era, from the ’68 GTO bucket seats to the ’56 Cadillac air cleaner. It was a reverse color scheme and the custom 2 tone interior. The firewall has been smoothed and all the wiring has been hidden. The trunk has custom panels to finish off the back.

Dream accessory for it and why?

Everything I could dream on the car is on the car!
