Rite Aid (RAD) Appoints Rempel to Enhance IT Solutions - Analyst Blog
In line with its long-term information technology (“IT”) strategy, Rite Aid Corporation RAD announced the appointment of Steve Rempel as the company’s senior vice president and chief information officer.
Rempel, a renowned IT veteran, will be reporting to Rite Aid’s senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer, Frank Vitrano. Further, in this role, Rempel will be responsible for the company’s overall technology and information operations, such as computer systems, data security, telecommunications and network infrastructure.
Prior to his appointment by Rite Aid, Rempel worked with Balance Innovations as chief information officer, president and CEO. In that role, this able leader held responsibility for the company’s technology strategy, in addition to being actively involved in financial, strategic and operational decisions.
Rempel had kick-started his career with a job at one of the leading food and drug retailers, Safeway Inc., where he worked for 35 years. During his tenure there, he served various roles in the IT field, with continued increase in responsibilities. Among these positions, he served as group vice president of Application Development, where he supervised all aspects of the IT application process like design, procurement, development and support.
These facts underscore Rempel’s profound experience in delivering enhanced performance through IT solutions.
Management believes that Rempel’s deep knowledge and proven track record will most likely benefit Rite Aid by taking it forward on its path of technology development. This, in turn, is expected to solidify the company’s business operations and improve ties with customers and associates.
Rite Aid, which trails only Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc. WBA and CVS Caremark Corp. CVS in size, currently carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). A better-ranked stock in the retail-drug store industry is China Nepstar Chain Drugstore Ltd. NPD, with a Zacks Rank #2 (Buy).
