Royal Caribbean plans for third specialty ship

Royal Caribbean signs contract for third specialty cruise ship with big attractions

MIAMI (AP) -- Royal Caribbean has signed a contract to have a third Quantum class cruise ship built.

Quantum class ships can offer attractions like simulated skydiving, bumper cars and an observation capsule, modeled on the London Eye, which gives a birds-eye view 300 feet above the water.

The Miami company did not disclose the price or terms for the new ship but said they are similar to the prior Quantum-class ships.

Royal Caribbean said it was so pleased with the response to its earlier designs, which it announced in April, that it decided to pursue another, which has a larger number of higher-priced rooms. The yet-unnamed vessel has 16 decks and can carry more than 4,000 people.
