Equity indexes logged their second straight day of gains after Monday's steep declines.
The small-cap Russell 2000 outperformed the other indexes by nearly 0.50 percent. The RUT rose by 11.22 points, or 1.47 percent, to close at 776.24.
The S&P 500 led by energy and material stocks, added 11.86 points, or 0.90 percent, to close at 1331.85. Led by energy and material stocks, the SPX hit a session high of 1334.40.
After initially peaking at 2576.09 off the open, the Nasdaq 100 tracked lower throughout the session to close at 2565.53. That was still a gain of 15.69 points, or 0.62 percent on the day.
S&P 500
Resistance is now 1332, followed by 1334.40 (yesterday's high), 1335.12, 1340, and 1350.01.
Support is now 1330.40, followed by 1329.09, 1325, 1322.50, and 1318.50.
Nasdaq 100
Resistance is now 2570, followed by 2575.27, 2576.09 (yesterday's high), 2582, and 2590.
Support is now 2560, followed by 2555.10, 2551.35, 2545.78, and 2540.
Russell 2000
Resistance is now 777, followed by 778.23, 780.50, and 782.
Support is now 775.12, followed by 774, 772.40, and 770.
