LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
MedAssist, a leading provider of eligibility, enrollment and other revenue recovery solutions, announced that it is partnering with Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System (SVMHS) to help expand its regional care services. The California-based hospital is working with MedAssist to simplify the new Affordable Healthcare Act and the enrollment process by offering the community a resource for personal assistance.
Millions of California residents will be able to access affordable health insurance coverage through the state’s new marketplace website, Covered California™ that will take effect in January 2014, when the new Health Insurance Marketplace becomes available. Through the Affordable Care Act, states are now providing the framework, policies, regulations and guidelines for implementing comprehensive health care reform.
"Our certified counselors can help the community make sense of their insurance options," says Pete Delgado, president/CEO of Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. "Families can come to the Salinas Valley Memorial campus and get free bilingual and in-person help enrolling in the insurance exchange programs."
“The arrival of new insurance exchanges and an electronic enrollment process in the New Year poses many challenges for hospitals and their patients,” said Mitzi Winters, Chief Operating Officer at MedAssist. “We are delighted to be working with Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital to help maximize the benefits of the Affordable Care Act while minimizing the costs associated with the expansion.”
Working together, MedAssist and SVMHS are providing resources to the local patient population to help make sense of the often confusing new insurance regulations. Bi-lingual certified counselors are available 40 hours a week at SVMHS to offer face to face guidance with enrollment in the healthcare insurance exchange and Medi-Cal. The certified counselors are unbiased and do not recommend specific plans, rather they provide expert knowledge to help patients and community members navigate the insurance exchange programs and simplify the enrollment process.
