PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) -- Drugmaker Sandoz is recalling one lot of Estarylla birth control medication due to a packaging flaw that places some of the tablets out of order.
Each packet contains 28 tablets, 21 which contain the pregnancy-preventing medication and seven which are placebos. Sandoz says a customer has reported finding a placebo tablet in a row of active tablets. Estarylla tablets contain a combination of the hormones estrogen and progestin.
Sandoz says it is voluntarily recalling lot LF01213A of the drug, though it has not received any reports of problems related to its product. The company says the risk of accidental pregnancy from missing one active tablet is low. Patients and doctors with concerns can contact the company at 800-525-2492.
The affected lot of Estarylla was distributed in the U.S.
