CHICAGO, Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Last week, Seaton CEO, Patrick Beharelle, attended a White House summit along with 20 other CEO's of top U.S. Companies who came together to meet with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden to discuss new ways to provide paths toward employment for qualified, long-term unemployed job-seekers. The advisory group, which included CEO's from leading U.S. firms such as Walgreens and Bank of America along with Mr. Beharelle, brought forward new ideas and training models to help long-term unemployed job-seekers re-enter the workforce.
The White House summit is one way leaders are answering a call from the President, who, in his State of the Union address last week, announced that he is asking every business leader in America to help the long-term unemployed get back into the job market. The group developed a set of best practices in the form of a formal pledge, heretofore signed by more than 300 companies, to remove barriers to employment for qualified job-seekers who have faced long term unemployment.

Friday's White House summit also highlighted promising models to connect long-term unemployed job seekers to work, including Skills for Chicagoland's Future (SCF). Patrick Beharelle is on the SCF board and has been a driving force in developing new, demand driven practices for recruiting and hiring long-term unemployed in Chicago. Last month, Seaton hosted Secretary of Labor, Thomas Perez for an overview of the program where the discussion was taken to the national level.
