Selena Gomez Lists Calabasas Estate

SELLER: Selena Gomez
LOCATION: Hidden Hills, CA
PRICE: $4,495,000
SIZE: 7,786 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms plus guesthouse

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Just a year and a half after buying and a handful of calls to 911 due to attempted intruders, at least one of whom was arrested and sent to the slammer on felony charges, Selena Gomez has her Calabasas estate up for sale at $4.495 million. The beaver busy and tremendously popular 23-year old hyphenate entertainer and social media powerhouse — she has almost 35 million followers on Twitter and more than 51 million on Instagram — purchased the gated 3.15-acre spread in March 2014 for $3,690,000.

Undeniably commodious and luxuriously appointed but, at least as far as this property gossip can sort out, of no particular architectural style, the 7,786-square foot brown stucco and stone-faced main residence has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms plus a separate and self-contained studio-style guesthouse over a detached two-car garage that includes a full size kitchen, bathroom, walk-in closet, and loggia with outdoor fireplace. Melodramatic double-height formal living and dining rooms — the former with fireplace and the latter with a towering, two-story wall of windows — open off a lengthy central gallery that stretches back to a sprawling, open-plan informal living space composed of a roomy family room with fireplace and built-in media cabinetry, a generously scaled and expensively equipped if generically styled kitchen with walk-in pantry, and a window-lined breakfast nook with banquette seating and a series of rather treacly affirmations painted on the wall.

The main floor master suite, with purple painted walls and patterned silver wallpaper on the ceiling, encompasses a spacious sitting area set into a deep bay window and a double-sided raised-hearth fireplace that opens on its backside to a bi-winged bathroom with double vanities, garden tub, and steam shower. A meandering second floor gallery overlooks both the living and dining rooms as it makes its way to a media lounge and three amply proportioned en suite bedrooms, one furnished as an office and painted a deep shade of lavender. A potential fifth bedroom with private bathroom, just down the hall from the master bedroom and next to the laundry room on the main floor, is suitable for use as a nursery, staff bedroom, or — as it was for Miss Gomez — a wee fitness room.

An enclosed courtyard at the center of the house offers wind-free privacy and an outdoor fireplace and there’s a gigantic swimming pool and spa set between the back of the main residence and an open-air dining/lounging pavilion decked out with grilling station and pizza oven. Other features noted in online marketing materials include a rock-walled walk-in wine cellar and an extensive home automation system, a house-wide surround sound set-up, and a camera-equipped security system.

Though only approaching her mid-20s, the Calabasas compound is not the first multi-million dollar house owned by young Miss Gomez who previously owned a gated estate in the San Fernando Valley community of Tarzana she purchased in July 2011 for $2.175 million, thoroughly renovated and expanded, and sold in September 2014 for $3.45 million to profanity-prone model/rapper Iggy Azalea and her professional basketballer fiancée Nick “Swaggy P” Young.

The former Disney star, just 23 years old, already has a long and impressive, multi-pronged career as a platinum selling pop-punk recording artist and in-demand actress who co-starred in the debauched feature film “Spring Breakers” in 2012, currently serves as a team advisor on the 9th season of “The Voice,” will co-star in the star-studded comedy “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising,” the follow-up to Seth Rogan’s 2014 hit film, and is all set to star in and executive produce the Netflix original mini-series “13 Reasons Why” based on the bestselling young-adult genre novel of the same name.

Miss Gomez’s Calabasas residence is represented by Matt and Josh Altman at Douglas Elliman
